Peter Pan & Wendy Film SPOILER FREE Film Review

 

Disney for some strange reason thinks that we like their live action remakes of their animated classics so much so that it looks like we're now getting two a year. Well now they've just released another live action remake of one of their animated classics and well you all just knew that I had to check this film the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FREE review of the film that is just as pointless , soulless and heartless as you'd expect it to be with the with this film in question being called simply just "Peter Pan & Wendy" enjoy.

The plot of this is Wendy and her brothers are taken to Neverland where they have to deal with the evil Captain Hook. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought /felt that the actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad. As it's just a carbon copy of the original film with very little added to it which yes could also be true for all of the other Peter Pan adaptations out their but they at the very least really do make an effort to try and add something to the story where as this film doesn't even do that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Alexander Molony as Peter Pan , Ever Anderson as Wendy Darling and Jude Law as Captain Hook. Also starring in this film is Alyssa Wapanatahk as Tiger Lily , Jim Gaffigan as Mr. Smee , Joshua Pickering as John Darling , Jacobi Jupe as Michael Darling , Molly Parker as Mary Darling , Firefly and Moana star Alan Tudyk as George Darling , Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell , Noah Matthews Matofsky as Slightly , Sebastian Billingsley-Rodriguez as Nibs , Kelsey Yates as Tudy , Skyler Yates as Rudy , Florence Bensberg as Curly , Caelan Edie as Tootles , Diana Tsoy as Birdie , Felix De Sousa as Bellweather , John DeSantis as Bill Jukes , Garfield Wilson as Gurley and Ian Tracey as Sallyport.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Which I wasn't expecting to be the case as this films script was pretty bad and so to see some acting that's not that bad was something that really did shock me and I will admit that Ever Anderson does have a future as an action should she chose to do more action films just like her mother.

Doing the CGI for this film is Day For Nite and the legends and the greats that are currently over at Double Negative. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI tat's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Altho with that being said there are some dodgy looking CGI effects in this movie tho.

I have to talk about the big elephant in the room yes there now girls in the The Lost Boys this is something that i've hated since I first saw the teaser trailer. As the whole point of Wendy being there in the 1953 original film was so that she could be a mother figure to the boys heck Peter himself even says in the movie that he's brought them a mother but now tho that whole purpose has now been destroyed as the boys now have several mother figures that all members of The Lost Boys and this just goes to show you that the makers of this film didn't care about the original source material in any way whatsoever and it's something that is obvious from frame one of this movie.

One of the things that I fully expected to not be present at all in this movie was the Indian Tribe and to be fair there's no way that this movie could do them in this movie. However what I wasn't expecting was for that one admission to now effect the character of Wendy I won't go into spoilers as to how she's changed later in the film but without the Indian Tribe now being in the movie there's a key Tiger Lily scene to be drastically changed which I really didn't like as it was a really fun scene and it's something that could have added some actual fun and levity to an otherwise dull film.  

There are so many things that I can handle about this film like for example the title change I can handle that because the original book is also sometimes called Peter Pan & Wendy. However one of the things that I cannot take is the fact that Peter Pan feels alot more like a side character in his own movie heck he's not even front and centre on the poster Wendy is and this is a big issue because for an adaptation of Peter Pan to work Peter Pan himself should always be the main character as he's the one that goes through the most change in all of the adaptations of this classic tale and not Wendy.

Now then this movie has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty three minuets and twenty one seconds. Which is a great amount of time for this movie to last as it really doesn't have alot their interms of either plot or story but at the same time this movie despite covering the exact same plot beats of the original oddly feels faster paced then the original as plot points which came more naturally in the original here feel forced an come out of nowhere which is a shame because this film has a great running time for a Peter Pan film to have.  

So now then since this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However at the same time it just wasn't as fun which is a shame because it's in this films action scenes where actress Ever Anderson really does shine in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall as is to be expected at this point this film is a soulless and heartless film that will be forgotten about by the end of next week and I can really see why Disney put this film on Disney+ because it is that bad in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 2.5 out of 10 from me.
