Peter Pan 1953 Film Film Review

Disney fans Disney is now just a few short days away from releasing their next live action Disney remake. As such I thought that it was about right that I took a look at the original film that Disney will be remaking and one that will have some changes that i'll be more then happy with and so then join me as I review the film that made alot of boys question their feelings for a fairy with the film in question being called simply just "Peter Pan" enjoy.

The plot of the film is Wendy and her brothers John and Michael find themselves in the mysterious land of Neverland thanks to the help of Peter Pan and must deal with pirates before the pirates do something terrible to them. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty fairly thin at best which might be the point since it's a children's fantasy that's meant to be like a fairy tale but at the same time having a much more stronger would have helped this film out quite a bit in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Bobby Driscoll as Peter Pan , Kathryn Beaumont as Wendy Darling and Hans Conried as Captain Hook and George Darling. Also starring in this film is Bill Thompson as Mr. Smee , Heather Angel as Mary Darling , Paul Collins as John Darling , Tommy Luske as Michael Darling , Stuffy Singer as Slightly , Robert Ellis as Cubby , Jeffrey Silver as Nibs and Johnny McGovern as The Twins.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of this films cast doing the best that can do the issue is tho is that this films script gives the actors nothing to work with interms of what their characters personalities actually are and so the cast can't really turn in that good of a performances because of the fact that this films script just allow them to do so.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good which considering that this film was made when Disney was at it's height animation wise isn't all that surprising.

There's one segment of this film that i'm glad will get changed in the upcoming remake and that's how they do the Indians. Just because there whole segment is incredibly racist and I don't just mean by today's standard either it was racist when I was growing up in the nineties and i'm shocked that people aren't calling them out for having a scene like this in one of their classic movies just because this one segment goes against everything that Disney is trying to make themselves look like and i'm guessing that this take on the characters was pretty racist back in the late forties and early fifties back when this movie was being made.

For those of you that don't know this film gives us a more watered down version of the Peter Pan character. As in the original book Peter Pan would openly and willingly kill any of the lost boys that would dare to leave Neverland and was a bit of a sociopath as well both of which are things that aren't even hinted at in this film and while having Peter Pan killing somebody wouldn't work in a Disney film you could show him acting alot more like a sociopath just to show you that it's not all fun and games with this character.

Another character that gets watered down is that of Tinker Bell altho it's not that much as we do get to her more violent tendencies. Tinker Bell is a character that has anger issues and she has a bit of an attitude and as we see in this movie she gets jealous easily but in the book we get to see that alot more then we do in this film which is a shame because you could have had an arc about her having to overcome her jealous tendencies but for whatever reason the makers of this film chose not to give her an arc and it's something that just doesn't work as when we do get to the scene where she rescues Peter it comes out of nowhere.

Noe then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and sixteen minuets and forty six seconds. Which for a story like this one is such a short running time to have as you very easily could have gotten this film up to one hour and thirty minuets just by expanding upon the films story and giving the characters that need a character like Peter , Wendy and Tinker Bell actual character arcs but as it is this film does have some really good pacing to it and if the film was to have a longer running it would be making an already thinly drawn out story even more thinner then what it already really is.

So now then since there is some action in this film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As this films action to me was meant to look like what a young boy thinks fighting a pirate would actually be like and this films action does a decent job of representing that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really good film that now makes me wonder what else will be changed in the upcoming remake and this film was also a rather fun and timeless classic film to watch as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being the official Disney fandom wiki page since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on the official Disney fandom wiki page are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
