Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings Film Review

Marvel fans and none Marvel fans alike i've made my feelings pretty clear right now on what I thought about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Four slate of films. Since I reviewed one of the average films in that particular Phase of films I thought that it only made sense to take a look at one of the better films from that Phase of films and so then join me everybody as I review the film that I think is one of if not the only Marvel Cinematic Universe film to feature a swear word within it with the film in question being called simply just "Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when the evil leader of a group called the Ten Rings tries to find a mythical lost village a young martial artist must choose between doing what's right and helping his father burn the village down. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this film having one of the more better plots of Phase Four in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Simu Liu as Shang-Chi , Tony Leung as Xu Wenwu and Awkwafina as Katy Chen. Also starring in this film is Sir Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery , Meng'er Zhang as Xu Xialing , Fala Chen as Ying Li , Michelle Yeoh as Ying Nan , Yuen Wah as Master Guang Bo , Florian Munteanu as Mattias / Razor Fist , Andy Le as Li Ching-Lin , Benedict Wong as Wong and Dee Bradley Baker as The Voice Of Morris.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films cast turning in some really good performances this is despite the fact that this films script just isn't that good and it just goes to show just how good of a director that Destin Daniel Cretton is since he still manged to get some really good performances out of his cast.

Doing the CGI for this film is Wētā FX , Trixter , Rising Sun Pictures , Digital Domain 3.0 , Distillery VFX , Basilic Fly Studio , BOT VFX , Scanline VFX , Rodeo FX , Method Studios , Luma Pictures , Fin Design & Effects , Stereo D , QPPE , Perception and Mist VFX Studio. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good while yes there were one or two very dodgy looking CGI shots in this film those are in the minority and don't represent the overall majority of the CGI that's in this film.

One of the things that I hated about Eternals is that the characters where boring and that thankfully isn't close to being the case for this film at least for the side characters anyways. Since this films side characters are memorable characters due to how thew characters are written with a character like Katy Chen being written more as the comedic relief character due to her actress having a more comedic background and the same thing could also be said for Xu Xialing who's character is written to fit actress Meng'er Zhang and that is something that just wasn't the case for any of the characters in Eternals.

Sadly the same thing cannot be said for any of this films main characters who are all written to be exactly the same. Not really helping things is the fact that the writing doesn't play to any of the main casts strengths which does hurt the film even more so when you take into account that that's the case for the writing when it comes to side characters and so why that wasn't the case for the main characters when it really shouldn't have been is well an truly beyond me since that is basic entry level screenwriting.

What I felt was really underdeveloped was the backstory with Shang-Chi , Xu Xialing and Xu Wenwu which is such a shame. Since when the film does touch upon their backstory it is pretty interesting and sadly this like of development on their backstory also translate to the villain not being all that interesting since his motive aren't made clear enough to make him a threatening villain and we don't really see him do anything that would make him seem like he's a really scary villain.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and twelve minuets and twenty seconds. Which is a little bit on the short side for a film like this one to be since if you stretched this films running time out by about five and ten minuets then you could developed the villain alot more and you could have developed the characters backstory alot more all of which would have helped this film out very greatly.

So now then since this is an action film that means that I have tom actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films bus fight scene being the best action sequence in the whole entire film with that action sequence taking influence from the great Jackie Chan movies just by adding in comedy movements and they work really well for that scene and for the character of Shang-Chi at that point in the film at least in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is quite easily one of the best of i'd say two or three films that are in Phase Four which given the rest of the films that are in this particular phase isn't that high of a bar to reach in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
