Pinocchio 2022 Animated Film Review
Pinocchio is a story that is so well known be it from the original book or from the original Disney film the story itself is very well known. So when it was announced that OSCAR winner Guillermo Del Toro was working on a stop motion animated version of the story understandably alot of people were hyped up and well the film is now released and so then join me as I review the film is alot closer in tone to the original book with the film in question being called simply just "Pinocchio" enjoy.
The plot of the film is Pinocchio is a wooden boy and when he runs away from home after a fight with his father he must fight to see his father again. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good and was alot darker then what I thought that it was going to be and it helps that this films story was also very well written as well as being genuinely quite entertaining and at times utterly heartbreaking as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Ewan McGregor as Sebastian J. Cricket , David Bradley as Master Geppetto and Gregory Mann as Pinocchio and as Carlo. Also starring in this film is Burn Gorman as The Priest , Ron Perlman as The Podestà , John Turturro as Il Dottore , Finn Wolfhard as Candlewick , Cate Blanchett as Spazzatura , Tim Blake Nelson as The Black Rabbits , Christoph Waltz as Count Volpe , Tilda Swinton as The Wood Sprite , and as Death and Tom Kenny as Benito Mussolini , Right-Hand Man and The Sea Captain.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films acting actually being better then the acting that we got in Disney's live Pinocchio remake since it came across here that the actors in this film actually cared enough to turn in good performances which sadly wasn't the case for Disney's live action Pinocchio remake in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Doing the animation for this film is of course the legends and the greats that are currently over at ShadowMachine. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films animation being alot better then the animation is most recently released animated films because that's just how good this films animation well and truly is.
Believe it or not this film is actually the third Pinocchio film to be released in just this year alone and it's by far the best one. Which given that the other two were the one that stars Paul E. Shore and live action Disney one that isn't all that surprising since this film is very well made with there being quite alot of love and attention being put into every single frame of film which is something that just isn't true for the other Pinocchio films which are just badly made film with the Disney film feeling alot more like a cash grab then anything else.
This film like the novel that it's based on goes to some really dark places and not just one time either it goes to those dark places several times. With one of those dark moments in the films story even being a key plot point in the entire film which was something that I really liked since it added a sense of fear and horror to the film and as such that this film really does ern it's PG rating since it does have alot of scenes that would require children asking their parents what the actual is going on in the film which is something that alot of PG films just don't do these days.
For some reason this film is a musical that has songs written by co-writer , co-director and co-producer Guillermo Del Toro this films composer Alexandre Desplat and Roeban Katz. I will admit that this films songs are where this films fails since alot of this films songs are just straight up bad songs that are for the most part badly sung with the only exception of this being "Everything Is New to Me" which is just a fun little song and nothing more then that.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and one minuet and forty one seconds. Which I have to admit is but of a long time for an animated film to last but to this films credit ho it doesn't actually feel that long since if anything this film feels like it's one one hour and forty minuets long and not over two hours long and alot of this is helped by the fact that the films story and characters are so engaging that time really does fly by and it makes me wonder why more animated films don't push for a two hour running time since they really could do wonders with that longer running time.
So now then since this film is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this film having some cute and funny moments all of which work well but there are some jokes which don't really work all that well at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall like I said in this review out of the three Pinocchio films and the two that've seen that have all been released this year this film is quite easily the best one and it's one that's the most dark in terms f the films tone in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does infact mean that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com , the official Disney fandom wiki page , the official Netflix fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being the official Netflix fandom wiki page since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on the official Netflix fandom wiki page are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
