Matilda The Musical Film Review

For some strange reason film fans American film studios seem to think that releasing a film on Christmas Day is a good thing. Since now Netflix has done exactly that since you know people quite clearly aren't going to be busy on Christmas Day but what sets Netflix apart from other film studios is the fact that the film i'm reviewing did also get a theatrical release in November over here in the UK and so then join me as I review the film that has a very confusing title with the film in question being called simply just "Matilda The Musical" enjoy.

The plot of this film is Matilda is very bright young girl who ha to deal with her schools evil headmistress and her own parents. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this film both rushing and taking it's time in telling this story which works both for and against this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is newcomer Alisha Weir as Matilda Wormwood , Lashana Lynch as Miss Jennifer Honey and the great Dame Emma Thompson as Miss Agatha Trunchbull. Also starring in this film is Stephen Graham as Mr Harry Wormwood , Andrea Riseborough as Mrs Wormwood , Sindhu Vee as Mrs Phelps , Lauren Alexandra as The Acrobat , Carl Spencer as Magnus The Escapologist , Katherine Kingsley as The Acrobat's Stepsister , Charlie Hodson-Prior as Bruce Bogtrotter , Rei Yamauchi Fulker as Lavender , Meesha Garbett as Hortensia , Winter Jarrett-Glasspool as Amanda Thripp and Matt Henry as Doctor.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films cast really doing a good job performance wise in this film with Alisha Weir really shocking me with just how good of an actress that she is so much so that I believe that she has a very bright future ahead of her should she continue to want to be an actress that is.

Doing the CGI for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Cinesite , Lidar Lounge and Mathematic. Now then interms f what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with some of the CGI looking pretty good but at the same time we do also get alot of really awful looking CGI effects shots as well.

This film is an adaptation of the 2010 stage musical of the same name with the stage musical itself also being an adaptation of the 1988 novel by author Roald Dahl. As far as I can tell this adaptation is fairly true to the stage adaptation with only one character missing from this film which is understandable since the character adds nothing to the overall plot of the film and some of the characters do see some changes but that's nothing that's far to drastic or even extreme for that matter.

Where this film starts to suffer I the fact that the relationship between Matilda and Miss Jennifer Honey which is just rushed and very underdeveloped. Which is a shame because it's that relationship that's key to making the film as a whole work and if the audience doesn't buy into that relationship then it makes it harder for the audience to buy into the film and as such alot more thought and effort should have been put into developing their relationship and less effort into making Matilda this picture perfect child who can do no wrong.

This film is as thew title would suggest is a musical with all of this films being written by singer , songwriter , actor and comedian Tim Minchin. I have to admit that as someone who hasn't heard a single song that Tim Minchin has wrote I really did like all of this films song with all of this films songs being really well written and well sung by all of this films cast with my favorite song being "Revolting Children" just because it's a really fun song but at the same time I will admit that new song "Still Holding My Hand" is just pointless and is just not needed for this film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and two minuets and five seconds. I will admit that this film is a bit long in the tooth since this film really doesn't need to be as long as it is at all but at the same time tho with this films longer running time it does allow the story to be fully fleshed out it's just ashame tho that the filmmakers don't take full advantage of this running time by fleshing out it's characters or even the relationship between Matilda and Miss Jennifer Honey.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty pretty bad. With this film having alot more bad jokes then good ones and when you add in the fact that this version of Matilda is made to be this picture perfect child who can do no wrong then the comedy can't work and that really does hurt this film comedy wise in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this is a good film it's also a film that's got quite alot of really fundamental problems all of which really do infact effect the overall quality of the film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com , Wikipedia and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being Google Images since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on Google Images are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
