Avatar: The Way Of Water Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review
There are some directors whose movies are always going to be big event movies and writer , editor , producer and director James Cameron is one of those directors. So then it only makes since that the first film that he's directed since 2009 is also the sequel to that very same film and with the man also filming another two sequels Avatar sequels it's safe to say that he's going to be a very busy man for the next ten years or so and so then join me as I review the film that takes us back to the world of Pandora with the film in question being called simply just "Avatar: The Way Of Water" enjoy.
The plot of this movie is ten years after the events of the first Avatar film Jake , Neytiri and their whole family have to leave there home when the humans come back and embark on an epic quest that will push their family unit to it's absolute limits. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this film plot being genuinely quite entertaining and at times rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Sam Worthington as Jake Sully , Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri and Sigourney Weaver as Kiri. Also starring in this film is Kate Winslet as Ronal , Cliff Curtis as Tonowari , CCH Pounder as Mo'at , Jamie Flatters as Neteyam , Britain Dalton as Lo'ak , Trinity Jo-Li Bliss as Tuktirey , Alicia Vela-Bailey as Zdinarsk , Bailey Bass as Tsireya , Jack Champion as Miles "Spider" Socorro , Joel David Moore as Dr. Norm Spellman , Dileep Rao as Dr. Max Patel , Giovanni Ribisi as Parker Selfridge , Edie Falco as General Frances Ardmore , Brendan Cowell as Captain Mick Scoresby and Jemaine Clement as Dr. Ian Garvin.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of the retuning actors doing a really good job and heck the same thing could also be said for the new actors who more then hold their own when acting against this films returning cast of actors which isn't an easy thing to achieve at all.
Doing the CGI for this film is Dendrite Digital , Industrial Light & Magic , Legacy Effects and Wētā FX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good which really shouldn't be all that surprising given not only the fact that the first films CGI was also really impressive but also given who was working on this film as well and while there has been some very minor controversary surrounding Weta right now that doesn't effects the overall quality of the effects that they created for this film which as always are a treat for the eyes to see.
SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!
As alot of you will know Stephen Lang is back as Colonel Miles Quaritch but also so is Matt Gerald as Corporal Lyle Wainfleet. However how they bring these two characters is just so stupid because it's revealed that these two characters are clones which is just so stupid and it askes more questions then it does answers and while granted this film handled it alot better then The Rise Of Skywalker did it's still just a bad way to bring back these characters.
There was one character that I deliberately left of the cast list and thats the fact that actress Sigourney Weaver is also back playing Dr. Grace Augustine. In which we find out that her new character Kiri is Grace's biological daughter this again asks so many questions all of which I hope get answered in the sequels but I have to wonder why they even bothered putting this in this film since it doesn't play apart in the film at all and as such it just comes across as being an excuse to have Sigourney Weaver playing two different roles and nothing really more then that and that's really just not all that good of an excuse at all.
This films theme of family and what that means is done really well the only issue that I have with it is that it was done better in T2: Judgement Day. Since in that film we see a broken family learn to come together and even form a kind of family with all of their alleys and in this film the family unit isn't broken and so seeing them trying to learn to be a family and discover what that means to be a family just doesn't work because they'd already know how to be a family but I will admit seeing the family trying to learn to get along with the new clan and form a kind of family unit with them is a somewhat decent idea.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly three hours and three minuets and seventeen seconds. Which really is a long time for this film to last espically since alot of this films running time is basically spent just showing you what the CGI effects could do and not actually adding anything to the overall story since there's very little to no lore added to this world and there's no scenes where we get to fully know the characters which with a film that's this long you really should have done since you still have to make these characters even the returning ones seem like fully formed three dimensional characters.
So now then since this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this films epic third act final fight on board a boat being the best action scene in the entire movie since we get tom see what all of the characters can do and that will always look and be really cool as all heck in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!
Overall this film is a huge stepdown in terms if quality when compared to the first film which is a such a shame because the first film was so good and this one just isn't that good of a movie in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are un this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the mages that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Avatar fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being the official Avatar fandom wiki page since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on the official Avatar fandom wiki page are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
