Wendell & Wild Film Review

 

There are so few animation legends out there and even fewer that are not only still alive today but are also still working in the field of animation. Well director Henry Selick is one of those people and well nearly two weeks ago he released his newest film in just over a decade and well then you all just knew that I had to check it out the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I review the film that sees the return of an animation legend with the film in question being called simply just "Wendell & Wild" enjoy.

The plot of this film is troublemaker Kat Elliot has to team up with some new friends to help to prevent the destruction of her hometown. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good and was also rather entertaining and at times rather frightening and scary as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Keegan-Michael Key as Wendell and one of this films producers and co-writer Jordan Peele as Wild. Also starring in this film is Lyric Ross as Katherine "Kat" Koniqua Elliot , Angela Bassett as Sister Helley , James Hong as Father Best , Ving Rhames as Buffalo Belzer , Sam Zelaya as Raúl Cocolotl , Tamara Smart as Siobhan Klaxon , Gary Gatewood as Delroy Elliot , Gabrielle Dennis as Wilma Elliot , Maxine Peake as Irmgard Klaxon , David Harewood as Lane Klaxon , Igal Naor as Manberg , Seema Virdi as Sloane , Ramona Young as Sweetie , Natalie Martinez as Marianna Cocolotl , Tantoo Cardinal as Ms. Hunter , Michele Mariana as Sister Daley and Sister Chinstrap , Phoebe Lamont as Bearzebub , Nick E. Tarabay as Fawzi , Joe Tran as Dr. Ngo and Caroline Crawford as Cassandra and Sukie Jordan.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films cast members turning in some truly wonderful performances and really nailing their respective characters in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Doing the animation for this film is ShadowMachine and the legends and the greats that are currently over at Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good and I can see why this film was getting alot of praise for it's animation since that's just how good this films animation is in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Believe it or not this film is Henry Selick's first film since the 2009 film Coraline and I have to say that he has not missed a beat. Since this film is incredibly well directed with there being some incredibly well put together and there also being a lot of love and passion put into every single frame of this film and that is something you don't see all that often and i'm glad that it's seen in this film because Henry Selick is a really good director in the field of animation and animated films in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

One of the things that I really didn't like about this film is the fact that this films main character Kat is really unlikable for most of the film. Which isn't a good thing since even tho she's meant to be this troubled character you still have to make that character actually likable and someone that the audience wants to root for instead of someone that the audience just doesn't like or even want to see succeed in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

The titular Wendell and Wild however are some pretty good characters altho I find it weird that Wild quite literally has the face of his voice actor Jordan Peele. I really liked that these two characters were kind of naïve since it made them seem alot more likeable and alot more charming and it really des help that these two characters have quite alot of funny scenes together which only serves to enhance both of their characters and give both of there characters there personalities in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty six minuets and twenty eight seconds. Which is a bit of a long running time for a film like this one since this film really doesn't have alot of story there to cover that running time and as such that means that this film is filled to the brim with alot of scenes that are there just for padding and add nothing to the actual plot of the film but to this films credit tho it does have some really good pacing tho in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then since this film is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / resented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having some really good jokes which is helped by the fact that both of the voice actors for Wendell and Wild used to write comedy together and so they'd know what's actually really funny in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really charming and it really does make me want to see more films from Henry Selick since he is a great director when it comes to the field of animation that is in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.
