Fire And Ice Film Review
Producer and director Ralph Bakshi is a very controversial figure among those in the animation fandom with some not liking his work and others liking his work. Well i'm in the camp that does like his work however even I can admit when he's made a film that isn't that good and that is very sadly the case with the film that i'm about to review for you all today and so then join me as I review the film that is another Ralph Bakshi "family picture" with the film in question being called simply just "Fire And Ice" enjoy.
The plot of this film is Nekron and his mother Queen Juliana are trying to take over the world and it's up to a fighter called Larn and his friends to stop them before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films plot being quite engaging and genuinely quite entertaining as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is William Ostrander as Larn and Taro , Maggie Roswell as Teegra and Steve Sandor as Darkwolf. Also starring in this film is Stephen Mendel as Nekron , Leo Gordon as Jarol , Susan Tyrrell as Queen Juliana , Elizabeth Lloyd Shaw as Roleil , Micky Morton as Otwa , Clare Torao as Tutor , Big Yank as Monga , Greg Wayne Elam as Pako , Alan Koss as Envoy and Hans Howes as The Defender Captain.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of this films actors and actresses not only turning in some decent performances but also making the most of what little this script gives them to freaking work with in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the grates that are currently over at Dong Seo Animation. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good which is nothing new since all of Ralph Bakshi's films have always had some really freaking good animation within them in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
This film to put it bluntly is the opposite of what Walt Disney was putting out in every single aspect with this film being dark and yet family friendly. Which was the opposite of what Walt Disney still does to this very day since even tho they do realise films that have dark undertones they bad comedic relief to make the kids happy where as with this film it doesn't have any kind of comedic relief and so then your left to focus alot more on aspects such as the story and the characters which in most freaking cases does work very well for this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
This might shock some of you but this film is actually rated PG which considering just how much blood ,violence and nearly half naked women that there in this film it's a shock that this film was given a much more higher rating. Which if this film was made today it would most certainly ern itself an R rating but that just goes to show you that the PG rating means absolutely nothing nowadays in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
This film does have a romance angle which really doesn't work since the two love interests only spend around ten minuets if screen time together and that's it. Which isn't enough time to make the romance seem believable since it makes the romance seem very forced and as such I really do think that this films romance should have been given alot more time to be fully developed since it's a key plot point in the films story in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty one minuets and thirty eight seconds. Which is a bit of an issue since this film really does have some very dreadful pacing and not helping things is the fact that this film seems to be on repeat mode alot of the time with the character of Teegra getting kidnapped and rescued so many times that it would make Daphne from Scooby-Doo blush in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
So now then since this is meant to be an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty the best aspect of the film. Since this films action is where we get to see just how stunning this films animation can be and plus this films action is fairly creative as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall this film deserves it's cult classic status however at the same time I can very easily see why this film wasn't that much of a hit since it does have several issues that go right down to the most basic level of filmmaking in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film erns itself a freaking grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Lord Of The Rings fandom wiki page , the official Disney fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being Google Images since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on Google Images are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
