Man Of Steel Film Review

 

Superman fans the character has been a mainstay of DC Comics since the nineteen thirties and so then when it was announced that DC Comics would be creating their own cinematic universe it would only make sense that the character to lead this new universe would be Superman. So then join me as I review the film that kickstarted the DC Extended Universe with the film in question being called simply just "Man Of Steel" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when an evil alien called General Zod threatens to terraform the Earth to make a new Krypton it's up to earths newest hero Superman to save the day before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but that's also the issue as this films main plotline wasn't that particularly good either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.  

Starring in this film is Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/ Kal-El/ Superman , Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Michael Shannon as General Dru-Zod. Also starring in this film is Diane Lane as Martha Kent , Russell Crowe as Jor-El , Antje Traue as Sub-commander Faora-Ul , Harry Lennix as General Calvin Swanwick , Richard Schiff as Dr. Emil Hamilton , Christopher Meloni as Colonel Nathan Hardy , Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent , Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van , Laurence Fishburne as Perry White , Richard Cetrone as Tor-An , Mackenzie Gray as Jax-Ur , Julian Richings as Lor-Em , Mary Black as Ro-Zar , Rebecca Buller as Jenny Jurwich and Christina Wren as Major Carrie Farris.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of this films cast doing there absolute best to make this films script work well enough for them however this films script really doesn't give this films cast alot to work with interms of their characters in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Doing the CGI for this film is Weta Digital , Double Negative , Moving Picture Company , Scanline VFX , Blur Studio , Look Effects , TeamWorks Digital and Gimzi Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good however this film uses CGI where it would have been better of to do it practically and it would have turned out better then doing it in CGI in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

One of the many things that this film gets wrong is the death of Jonathan Kent simply because of the fact that it's something that goes against what they were trying to do with this film which is make Superman more human. This is because so few if any people have actually died via tornado and yet alot of people have died via heart attack and on top of all of that the death of Jonathan has to be the emotional thing that makes Clark want to be a better version of himself and that's not something that comes across in this film but it is something that comes across in spades in the 1978 Superman film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Just to ad to this is the fact that the heart attack scene in the 1978 Superman film was not only very well written but it was something that was also said up earlier on in the film and has a impact all throughout the rest of the film. The same thing cannot be said for Jonathan's death scene in this film which comes out of nowhere and it has no impact on not only the plot of the film but also on the character of Superman himself in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

While I do see why they had to have Superman kill Zod since it does somewhat makes sense for this take on the character. What really ruins it is the fact that the family have quite alot of room to escape where as Zod cannot move his neck that much if at all and so it makes me wonder why the family just didn't move out of the way since they quite clearly had the room to do so and they very easily could have done if they wanted to in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and twenty three minuets and two seconds. Which is a bit of a long running time in order to tell this films story since you very easily could have cut down the scenes on Krypton by quite alot and you could have cut down on the flashback scene as well since that scene adds literally nothing to the entire movie at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then since this is an action film after all that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Altho his films action did get very CGI heavy by the end of it and that did take me out of the film and that is not something that you want to be case at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film was a fairly bad start to a fairly bad cinematic universe since it doesn't tell you how this universe works and what the rules are even of this cinematic universe in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.
