Star Trek III: The Search For Spock Film Review

Film fans since the last Star Trek film I reviewed for you all was Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan it only now makes sense that I take a look at the third Star Trek film. Since Films 2 through 4 in the Star Trek film franchise all tell one complete story and so it only makes sense to view all of those films in order and so join me join me as I review the film that had that features / featured a pre Back To The Future Christopher Lloyd with the film in question being called simply just "Star Trek III: The Search For Spock" enjoy.

The plot of this film is mere minuets after the events of Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan Admiral James T. Kirk and the rest of the crew of the USS Enterprise decide to travel back to the planet Genesis when they learn that Spock might not be dead after all and the crew of the USS Enterprise also have to deal with Klingon Commander Kruge who wants to use the secrets behind the planet Genesis as a deadly doomsday type of weapon weapon. Now then in terms of what I personally thought about the plot of this film in all honesty I personally thought that the plot of this fil was rather weak and as well as being rather simply especially when compared to the plot of Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan.

Starring in this film is William Shatner Admiral James T. Kirk , DeForest Kelley as Leonard McCoy and James Doohan as Montgomery Scott. Also starring in this film is George Takei as Hikaru Sulu , Walter Koenig as Pavel Chekov , Nichelle Nichols as Uhura , Dame Judith Anderson as T'Lar , Robin Curtis as Saavik , Christopher Lloyd as Commander Kruge , Mark Lenard as Sarek and Merritt Butrick as David Marcus.

In terms of what I personally thought about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this very film in all honesty I thought that the acting that's featured / presented to us in this very film was fairly decent to average at best. Of course it goes without saying that all of the cast members returning from Star Trek: The Original Series turn in good performances but it's the films newer actors that turn in very mixed performance since while Christopher Lloyd turns in a great and enjoyable performance as Commander Kruge Robin Curtis just seems bored and completely disinterested and that is also true for alot of this film new / newer cast members.

Doing the CGI effects for this film is Industrial Light & Magic and nobody else which given how effects heavy the Star Trek films are i'm honestly shocked that the film makers didn't use more CGI effects houses to work on this very effects heavy film. However tho with that being said the effects that are featured / presented to us in this film are in all honesty really freaking good with the film making use of lots of good looking models effects which just like the CGI effects also hold up really freaking well in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then as I mentioned at the very start of this very / particular review review this film is the middle part of a three film story arc with the other two films being of course Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. In all honesty I really liked that the makers of these films chose to have one ongoing storyline be told across three separate movies since it rather rightfully makes all three of those exact same movies seem a lot more epic and as well as alot more personal which for a movie adaptation of a TV show is something that you always want to be doing in my opinion anyways / at least.

I will very fully admit that this very / particular film is nowhere near as good as Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan was. Simply because what held Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan together was a great and engaging plot line among many other things and sadly alot of what made / makes Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan so good is lost / no where to be seen in this film which is a shame because this film should have been a home run since it was coming off of Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan which both critics and fans loved and so it's sad to see that this film just couldn't live up to the hype that was left behind because of how good Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan well and truly was but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways.

What also lets this film down is the fairly weak villain since we don't get to find out anything about this films villains at all and as such we have no reason to want to see this villain succeed in his plan and nor do we have a reason to want to see our heroes defeat this films villain either and as such this films villain just comes across as being evil for the sake of being evil. Which doesn't make him an interesting and while Khan had an entire episode of older TV show / series to establish his reason for being evil and so they didn't have to tell us why Khan is evil in Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan because the fans would already no why Khan is evil and well the same cannot be said for this films main villain and as such I do feel that at least a little bit effort should have gone into giving this films villain some actual backstory and as well as a reason to be evil and as well as clear end goal all of which would have made this films main villain alot more interesting and lot less of a boring character / joke in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then this film has a grand total running time of one hour and forty five minuets and fourteen seconds and well if i'm being honest this film has the perfect amount of running time. Since this film doesn't have enough story to cover anything that's even close to two hours but to this films credit this film really does fly by with the film honestly feeling more like that it's one hour and thirty minuets instead of / rather then one hour and forty five minuets and fourteen seconds.

Now then since this film is listed as being an action film with that listing being up on IMDB that means that I have to talk about the actual action that's / that is featured / presented to us in this very / particular film and well if im being really freaking honest here people the action that's featured / presented to us in this very film. Is at best very average this is of no fault of the film tho since the only real action scene is a fit scene between a then fifty two year old William Shatner and a then forty five year old Christopher Lloyd as such both actors aren't going to be able to move as fast as they perhaps once could and as such the action that's in this film comes across as being rather slow and clunky.

Overall this film was still really enjoyable to watch but at the same time it's a huge step down from the great film that is called simply just Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan which is a shame because this film does have some good ideas in it and this film is also fairly entertaining to watch playout. Now then i've talked about both of the good and as well as both of the bad things that are n this film in this very review that means that this film gets a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I got all of the images that I used in this very review well then I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Star Trek fandom wiki page and from Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review from being the official Star Trek fandom wiki page just simply due to the fact that pretty all of the images that I personally got from the official Star Trek fandom wiki page are all fairly high in quality and as well as being fairly high definition.
