Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island Review

Looney Tunes fans since i've already reviewed the other Looney Tunes movie i thought that i'd turn my attention towards the first movie stars Daffy Duck that movie being Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island so lets go.

The movie basically has Daffy and Speedy stranded on an island and while there they find a magic well that grants wishes and use it to make money all the while  Yosemite Sam and Taz try to find out who stole there map. I can't really talk about Daffy and Speedy's plot since it's all tied into the shorts but in terms of Sam's and Taz's plot it was ok nothing special.

The film only has three stars the late and great June Foray , the always great Mel Blanc and the late Les Tremayne there's really nothing i can say about Mel and June they were legends for a reason and they turn in great performances here the only performer i can really comment on is Les as the magic well he's pretty good he has a nice deep voice which is perfect for that character.

I won't mention the animation in the classic shorts because it's already going to be great but i will talk about the animation in the newer scenes the animation in those scenes is really good which is not shocking because Looney Tunes legend Friz Freleng directed this movie all of the characters get some nice facial expressions which helps sell some of the jokes even more.

The jokes in this film are very hit and miss for me and even the ones that hit didn't make me laugh hard they just got a smile out of me at best i don't know why the jokes in these later Looney Tunes movies aren't funny maybe it's the director's fault or the studio's but either way someone is to blame.

Overall if your a Daffy Duck fan or you just want something to show little kids then i'd say check this out maybe they'll find the jokes funny for me tho this movie is a 6 out of 10

  2. I think the biggest problem with these films is the attempt to blend classic fifties animation with 70s and 80s newer scenes. Also Mel blanks voice changed over the years especially when it comes to Yosemite Sam and Foghorn Leghorn so any blend between the fifties and the 80s is a pretty tough sell for Warner Brothers cartoon purists.
